Hua Jianghu: Gui Yexing Part 2

Hua Jianghu: Gui Yexing, produced by the Chinese studio Rocen, is a significant entry in the expansive Hua Jianghu animated franchise. This ONA series serves as a darker, more mature expansion of the wuxia-fantasy universe, building upon the established lore and intricate world-building that the franchise developed to capture the growing Chinese domestic market for high-quality 3D animation. The series was designed to showcase advancements in character modeling and fluid action choreography, marking a shift toward grittier narratives within the broader brand.

The creative direction for the series focuses on a blend of traditional historical aesthetics and modern stylized animation techniques. Designers sought to create a distinct atmosphere that separates this installment from the more traditional martial arts entries in the Hua Jianghu collection. Upon release, the series was well-received by the existing fan base for its technical fidelity and its willingness to lean into a more somber, atmospheric tone, helping to solidify the franchise's reputation as a leader in long-form Chinese web animation.
