Hundred

Hundred was produced by Studio IMS and premiered in 2016 as a television anime adaptation of the light novel series written by Jun Misaki and illustrated by Nekosuke Okuma. Set in a world where humanity utilizes weapons called Hundreds to defend against mysterious life forms known as the Savage, the series follows Hayato Kisaragi as he enrolls in an academy to master his own armament. The production sought to capture the high-stakes, action-oriented aesthetic common to the school battle harem subgenre that was prominent in the mid-2010s.

The design and animation direction were tasked with balancing character-focused drama with sci-fi combat sequences. Upon its release, the series was received as a standard entry in the light novel adaptation circuit, noted by critics for its adherence to established tropes of the genre. While the show provided a distinct visual identity for its primary mechanical weaponry, it remains primarily recognized by enthusiasts of the 2010s light novel wave rather than as a singular milestone in industry animation.
