I I I

I I I is a minimalist experimental work from the mid-20th century, emerging during a period when artists and poets were increasingly interested in the intersection of linguistics, visual art, and structural repetition. Created to strip language down to its most fundamental visual representation, the piece explores the concept of the character as an object rather than merely a component of a phonetic system.

The design process was rooted in the reductionist philosophies of the era, aiming to remove editorial or narrative interference to focus on rhythm and form. While it initially polarized critics who questioned its departure from traditional composition, it was ultimately received as a significant exploration of concrete poetry, marking a shift toward works that prioritize the physical presence of the letterform on the page.
