Where it came from
Idol Time Pripara was produced by Tatsunoko Production in collaboration with Dongwoo A&E as the successor to the original PriPara series, airing in 2017. The series was designed to breathe new life into the franchise by introducing a dual-protagonist narrative, shifting the setting to the newly established Paparajuku PriPara while maintaining the core themes of performance, idol dreams, and social connection that defined its predecessor.
The character designs were handled by the series' long-standing creative team, focusing on a vibrant, high-energy aesthetic that emphasized the evolving technology and idol culture featured in the show. While it served as a transition point for the franchise, it was generally well-received by fans for its focus on the protagonist Yui Yumekawa and for integrating fresh dynamics into the established magical idol formula.
