Where it came from
IDOLiSH7 Third BEAT! was produced by Studio TROYCA and premiered in 2021 as the third season of the popular multimedia franchise IDOLiSH7. The series follows the professional and personal development of the idol group IDOLiSH7 as they navigate the complexities of the Japanese entertainment industry. This installment was notably split into two parts, continuing the adaptation of the mobile rhythm game's storyline with a focus on heavier dramatic themes and the expansion of the franchise's narrative universe.
The animation direction under TROYCA, led by director Makoto Bessho, aimed to balance high-energy stage performances with the intricate, emotional character drama that defines the series. The character designs, originally conceived by Arina Tanemura, were adapted for the screen to maintain her signature aesthetic while ensuring fluidity for performance sequences. Upon its release, the season was well-received by fans for its mature narrative progression and the detailed quality of its musical production numbers.
