Where it came from
Immoral Guild, released in 2022, is an anime television series produced by Studio TNK and based on the manga series by Taichi Kawazoe. The story centers on Kikuru Madan, a talented hunter who decides to retire from his guild duties due to a desire for a peaceful life, only to find himself constantly interrupted by the arrival of clumsy and eccentric trainees. The series positions itself as a comedy-fantasy, leaning heavily into ecchi tropes while exploring the comedic friction between a stoic professional and his incompetent proteges.
The production by Studio TNK followed their established approach to light-hearted, character-driven series. The design of the anime focuses on vibrant, exaggerated aesthetics to emphasize its comedic intent. While the source material and its adaptation were received primarily as a niche genre piece, the series gained attention for its specific comedic timing and its lighthearted subversion of traditional fantasy guild tropes, finding a dedicated audience among viewers who enjoy irreverent, trope-heavy anime comedies.
