Fushimi Inari is a shy, not-so-bright middle school girl living in Kyoto's Fushimi ward. She has a crush on her classmate Tanbabashi, but cannot express her feelings. One day, as thanks for helping a fox pup, the deity Ukanomitamanokami grants her the ability to change her form.

Where it came from
Inari Kon Kon was produced by studio Production IMS and first aired in 2014, based on the manga series by Morohe Yoshida. The story is set in the Fushimi district of Kyoto and focuses on a shy middle-school student who is granted the power to shapeshift by a local deity. It serves as a gentle exploration of adolescent struggles, friendship, and the intersection between everyday life and Shinto mythology.
The visual design emphasizes the scenic atmosphere of Kyoto, aiming to ground the supernatural elements in the authentic geography of the city. While the series received moderate attention for its heartfelt storytelling and focus on character growth, it is often remembered for its earnest portrayal of the relationship between human protagonists and the divine entities they encounter.
