Where it came from
Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.: Inari, Konkon, Semishigure was released in 2014 as an original video animation episode bundled with the eighth volume of the manga series by Morohe Yoshida. Produced by Studio IMS, this standalone installment functions as a narrative bridge and epilogue to the twelve-episode television series that aired earlier that same year. The story centers on Inari Fushimi, a shy middle school student who gains the ability to shapeshift after receiving a divine blessing from the fox deity Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami at a local shrine in Kyoto.
The production sought to maintain the visual charm and emotional tone established by the television anime, focusing on the intersection of teenage romance and Shinto-inspired folklore. The animation team aimed to capture the tranquil atmosphere of Fushimi Inari-taisha and its surroundings, a setting deeply intrinsic to the manga's aesthetic. Upon its release, the OVA was well-received by fans of the series as a gentle, character-focused addition that provided further closure to the central relationships developed throughout the main television run.
