The main character, Endou Mamoru, is a very talented goalkeeper and the grandson of one of the strongest goalkeepers in Japan, who died before he was born. Even though his skills are incredible his school lacks a real soccer club as the 6 other members don't appear very interested even in training. But as soon as a mysterious forward called Gouenji moves to Endou's town, the young goalkeeper sets out to find and recruit members for his soccer team.

Where it came from
Inazuma Eleven debuted in 2008 as a multimedia franchise launched by Level-5, beginning with a video game for the Nintendo DS before expanding into an animated television series produced by Oriental Light and Magic for TV Tokyo. The series was designed to blend traditional sports anime tropes with high-concept fantasy elements, focusing on a underdog soccer team attempting to restore their school's reputation. This unique fusion aimed to capture a younger audience by integrating supernatural special moves with the strategic foundations of the sport.
The character designs were overseen by Level-5’s creative team, emphasizing distinct, energetic silhouettes that translated well from game sprites to screen. Upon its release, the series became a cultural phenomenon in Japan, praised for its infectious enthusiasm and fast-paced storytelling. Its success led to a long-running franchise that includes multiple sequel series, films, and merchandise, solidifying its place as a significant entry in the early 2000s sports anime genre.
