The Shirakiin house's daughter, Shirakiin Ririchiyo, who has a complex about being unable to live independently and unprotected, feels the need to move out and live on her own under the condition of residing in the mansion named "Ayakashi Kan." In this mansion, only those who have cleared a very strict examination could reside in it, and for each resident, they are accompanied with one agent of the Secret Service (S.S.). Although Riricho has rejected the company of the S.S., while residing in the mansion she finds out that the agent dedicated to protecting her is actually the Fox Spirit.

Where it came from
Inu X Boku SS was produced by studio David Production and released as a television series in 2012, based on the manga series by Cocoa Fujiwara. The story follows a wealthy, self-isolating heiress who moves into a high-security apartment complex known as Maison de Ayakashi, where residents are descendants of demons assigned secret service agents. It serves as a blend of supernatural romance and dark comedy, reflecting the popular mid-2000s anime trend of juxtaposing gothic aesthetics with school-life and character-driven drama.
The character designs were handled by Haruko Iizuka, who aimed to translate Fujiwara's delicate, stylized manga artwork into a functional animation style. The series received attention for its sudden shifts in tone, moving between moments of lighthearted slapstick and more earnest, melancholy exploration of the characters' insecurities. Upon its release, the adaptation was noted for its distinct visual flair and the chemistry between the primary leads, maintaining a dedicated following among fans of the supernatural romantic comedy genre.
