Hitomi Tsukishiro may be the child of a family of witches, but after losing her ability to see color, she also lost her sense of magic. Nothing has been able to help her regain that gift — nothing until Hitomi’s grandmother, that is, sends Hitomi back in time to the year 2018! There Hitomi meets her grandmother’s younger self. She also discovers fascinating drawings of a young man named Yuito Aoi. The moment Hitomi lays eyes on his work, colors flood back into view. But why do his drawings have this effect on Hitomi, and for what purpose has her grandmother sent her so far back in time? As Hitomi’s feelings for Yuito grow, she finds herself poised on the cusp of personal transformation, color and magic returning as she blossoms into the young woman she’s meant to be.

Where it came from
Iroduku: The World in Colors was produced by the acclaimed animation studio P.A.Works and directed by Toshiya Shinohara. The series was created as an original anime project, first airing in 2018, and serves as a poignant exploration of melancholy and artistic perception. The story centers on a young woman who has lost the ability to see color and is sent back in time to her grandmother's high school years to rediscover her emotional and visual connection to the world.
The visual design of the series was crafted to emphasize a shift from a monochromatic existence to a vibrant, painterly aesthetic. The production team utilized a delicate color palette that evolves alongside the protagonist's development, mirroring the theme of finding beauty in one's environment. Upon its release, the series was well-received by critics and audiences for its evocative atmosphere, fluid animation, and its meditative approach to the themes of growth and healing.
