After years of war against the monstrous kaiju, the world finally knows a time of prosperity and peace — but the presence of the kaiju can still be felt. Girls with the souls of kaiju are born every so often, and each is gifted with the unusual abilities of kaiju! An organization called GIRLS has collected the kaiju girls to defend the earth, but rising from the shadows comes BLACK STARS, a troupe of evil kaiju girls who just recruited their latest — and somewhat bewildered — new member…

Where it came from
KAiJU GiRLS BLACK was produced by Yumeta Company as a theatrical follow-up to the Ultra Kaiju Humanization Project, an ambitious multimedia franchise launched by Tsuburaya Productions. The project reimagined the iconic monsters of the Ultraman series as anthropomorphic schoolgirls, blending tokusatsu heritage with the popular anime aesthetic of the late 2010s to introduce classic science fiction villains to a new generation of viewers.
The film was designed to bridge the gap between the franchise's established lore and a more character-focused narrative, emphasizing the dramatic tensions between the reimagined kaiju. Upon its release, it was received primarily by the dedicated niche of tokusatsu fans who appreciated the playful, high-concept approach to reimagining legacy monsters, though it remained a specialized title within the broader context of Tsuburaya's extensive catalog.
