Kana Kana Kazoku: Shinnen no Goaisatsu

Kana Kana Kazoku: Shinnen no Goaisatsu was produced by the Japanese animation studio DLE as part of a series of promotional shorts featuring the Kana Kana Kazoku characters. These characters were created to serve as mascots for the Japan Post, specifically designed to encourage the use of traditional New Year greeting cards, known as nengajo, in an increasingly digital era.

The animation style reflects DLE's signature aesthetic, which often utilizes simple, Flash-based movement and dry, observational humor to make its characters relatable and accessible. As a brief ONA produced for the holiday season, the work was intended to build brand affinity through gentle charm rather than complex narrative, receiving attention primarily within Japan as a piece of seasonal corporate creative work.
