Where it came from
Kana Kana Kazoku: Stop Rubella was produced by DLE Inc. as part of a public health awareness initiative in Japan. The project aimed to educate the public on the importance of rubella vaccinations, utilizing the studio's signature Flash-animated aesthetic and humorous, simplified character designs to make sensitive medical information accessible to a broad, younger audience.
The short was designed to leverage the studio's established reputation for viral, quirky digital content to convey urgent health messaging. By casting the virus as a character, the creators sought to demystify preventative measures. It was received as an effective piece of government-backed educational media, praised for its straightforward tone and ability to simplify complex health guidelines without sacrificing clarity.
