Where it came from
Kay's Daily Doodles was released by Gravity Well as an original net animation, serving as an experimental project intended to highlight the studio's proficiency in fluid, minimalist character movement. Created during a period when the studio was shifting focus toward digital-first micro-content, the series was designed to emphasize spontaneity and everyday humor over traditional narrative structure.
The character designs were spearheaded by a small team at Gravity Well who aimed for a clean, stripped-back aesthetic reminiscent of early web-based animation. Upon release, the series was well-received by animation enthusiasts for its rhythmic timing and the expressive simplicity of its line work, which stood out against the increasingly high-fidelity trends of the animation industry at the time.
