Kie Saranu Kizuato: Hi no Umi Osaka

Kie Saranu Kizuato: Hi no Umi Osaka is a standalone original video animation produced by Toei Animation, released as part of the broader promotional efforts surrounding the historical drama and anime landscape of the late 1980s. The production was developed to translate specific dramatic narratives into an animated format, capturing the stylistic hallmarks of Toei's output during an era that prioritized high-quality cel animation and atmospheric storytelling for the burgeoning home video market.

The creative direction for this project leaned into the established aesthetic standards of Toei Animation's production staff, focusing on emotional resonance and historical setting. While the title is relatively niche within the studio's vast library, it reflects the studio's mid-career attempt to diversify its catalog beyond long-running television series. It is regarded by collectors as a distinct piece of Toei's experimental period, valued primarily for its specific animation techniques and the creative vision of the period's animation directors.
