Where it came from
Kinyoubi no Yakusoku, or Friday's Promise, was released in 2013 as part of the HoneyWorks music project. It serves as a narrative music video animation produced by the vocaloid music group, featuring the character Hina Setoguchi. The production was intended to translate the emotional narrative of their song into a visual medium, characteristic of the J-pop and Vocaloid aesthetic that gained significant traction online during that era.
The animation is recognized for its clean, expressive character designs and its focus on the poignant, relatable themes of unrequited high school romance. Created by the HoneyWorks team, the visuals were designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia and youthful longing, successfully resonating with a digital audience on platforms like Niconico and YouTube. It remains a foundational entry in the HoneyWorks cinematic universe, celebrated for its cohesive visual storytelling.
