Knight Hunters Eternity

Knight Hunters Eternity was produced by studio ufotable and aired in 2002 as a direct sequel to the original Weiss Kreuz series. It served as a tonal departure from its predecessor, moving away from the more traditional shoujo-inspired aesthetic to embrace a grittier, more experimental visual style. The series was created to conclude the overarching narrative involving the four assassins of the Kruez organization, utilizing a significantly darker color palette and sharper character designs that reflected the shifting trends in early 2000s psychological anime.

The transition to ufotable marked a pivotal moment for the franchise, as the studio focused on integrating digital production techniques that were still gaining traction in the industry at the time. While the series was received with mixed critical feedback due to its abrupt narrative shifts and complex plot progression, it remains a notable example of ufotable's early creative evolution before they became synonymous with the high-fidelity animation style seen in their later works.
