Kobayashi-san no Tsundere Kouza

Kobayashi-san no Tsundere Kouza, or The Kobayashi-san Tsundere Course, was released in 2023 as an ONA to coincide with the popularity of the Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid franchise. This short-form web series serves as a lighthearted spin-off focusing on the character Tohru, who attempts to educate the audience on the nuances of the 'tsundere' archetype. It was produced by Kyoto Animation, the studio responsible for the main anime adaptation, maintaining the high-quality character animation and aesthetic charm that defined the source material.

The creative direction for this ONA aimed to bridge the gap between the show's slice-of-life comedy and meta-humorous character study. By leaning into the archetypal tropes that fans of the series appreciate, the designers and writers intended to provide a playful, bite-sized experience for viewers already invested in the relationship dynamics between Tohru and Kobayashi. Upon its release, it was received as a charming supplemental entry, praised primarily for its consistent visual style and the voice acting performance that captures the essence of the dragon maid's personality.
