Where it came from
Koinu no Plue, or 'Plue the Puppy,' emerged as an animated character from the Japanese public broadcaster NHK. The character was developed in the early 2000s as a mascot and the protagonist of a children's television series intended to convey gentle, moral lessons to young viewers through simple, wordless narratives.
The visual design of Plue reflects the minimalist aesthetic favored in NHK's educational programming of that era, emphasizing soft, approachable shapes and a non-verbal style meant to transcend language barriers. It was well-received among its target demographic for its calming tone and remains a nostalgic figure for those who grew up watching NHK's morning variety blocks.
