Kurikaesu Haru

Kurikaesu Haru, or Repeating Spring, is a poignant short film produced by the renowned animation house Production I.G. It was created as part of an initiative to showcase the studio's technical prowess and narrative flexibility outside of their mainstream feature-length projects. The piece serves as an atmospheric reflection on the passage of time and the cyclical nature of memory, hallmarks of the studio's interest in existential themes.

The production relied on the studio's signature clean, fluid aesthetic, emphasizing detailed character movement and atmospheric environmental design. While Production I.G is best known for high-octane science fiction and action, this short allowed their artists to focus on minimalist storytelling and emotive color palettes. Upon release, it was lauded by animation enthusiasts for its artistic restraint and the seamless integration of digital post-production techniques with traditional cel-style sensibilities.
