Atsushi Arisawa enrolls at Jougaouka High School to be near Masami Shibata (Ma-chan) who was his childhood crush. Unbeknownst to Atsushi, however, Masami no longer works at the school and his brother, Masayoshi is now the nurse. Atsushi mistakes Masayoshi for Masami and is horrified because to him, it appears that Masami's personality has done a complete 180. Add to the fact that Atsushi's friend, Kouji Inagaki is totally in love and constantly trying to make-out with him, Atsushi's life at Jougaoka is hell..until he starts thinking that maybe the new Ma-chan isn't so bad afterall and that, maybe he actually likes the way Ma-chan is now. Until of course, he finds out that Masayoshi isn't Masami.

Where it came from
Kusatta Kyoushi no Houteishiki, or The Equation of a Rotten Teacher, was released as a two-part original video animation (OVA) series by Daiei in 1994. Adapted from the manga series by Kazuto Okamoto, the project emerged during a period of burgeoning interest in boys' love (shonen-ai) narratives within the Japanese animation industry. The story follows a cynical and eccentric teacher who navigates complex, often turbulent relationships within a high school setting, reflecting the genre's tendency to blend dark romantic melodrama with school-life tropes.
The production sought to translate the stylistic sensibilities of early 1990s manga to the screen, focusing on character-driven emotional tension rather than expansive animation. While the OVA served to introduce the source material to a wider audience, it was received primarily as a niche curiosity within the blossoming yaoi subculture of the time. The design remains representative of the era's character aesthetics, characterized by sharp angles and dramatic, expressive portraiture meant to underscore the volatile temperaments of the protagonists.
