Where it came from
Kyou no Go no Ni: Kagai Jugyou is a 2008 original video animation special produced by Studio Shinkuukan, serving as a companion piece to the television series adaptation of Koharu Sakuraba's manga. The series chronicles the daily lives and precocious interactions of a group of fifth-grade students, maintaining the manga's hallmark blend of innocent childhood humor and suggestive situational comedy. This specific release, often subtitled Mizukake, functions as a supplemental episode that explores the charming, albeit awkward, dynamic between the young classmates during their school routines.
The animation direction and visual style were intended to mirror the lighthearted, slice-of-life aesthetic established in the source material, emphasizing expressive character designs that capture the characters' youthful energy. As part of a franchise that transitioned from a short-form web series to a full-length broadcast anime and subsequent OVAs, this release was aimed at fans seeking additional vignettes featuring the core ensemble. It was received as a standard extension of the series, appreciated primarily by dedicated viewers of the manga for its faithful character portrayals and comedic tone.
