Dreams begin to haunt Lady Sheru -- dreams of her past life as Pirotesse. Her love, Ashram, is being tormented at the hands of the soul of Barbas posing as their former king, Beld of Marmo. Interpreting this as a plea for help, Sheru searches for a way to save him by entering the chaos realm using the Chaos Ring. Meanwhile, Redon and his friends are called to arms again as ancient creatures begin to appear after being sealed away for centuries. Both their paths will cross once again, and on their shoulders will the fate of Crystania lie.

Where it came from
Legend of Crystania originated in 1996 as a three-part original video animation (OVA) series produced by Kadokawa Shoten. It serves as a spin-off to the broader Record of Lodoss War franchise, specifically expanding upon the lore of the continent of Crystania established in the Record of Lodoss War novels. The narrative follows the exiled dark god Ashram and his followers as they navigate the mystical, treacherous landscape of a land separated from the rest of the world by a powerful barrier.
The production was directed by Takenori Kawada, with character designs adapted for animation by Nobuteru Yuki, who was instrumental in defining the visual aesthetic of the Lodoss franchise. The series was designed to shift the tone from high-fantasy political intrigue to a more survivalist, mythic journey. Upon release, it was received as a bridge between the core Lodoss adventures and the wider fantasy mythos fostered by Kadokawa, noted by fans for its lush, melancholic art style and distinct departure from traditional heroic tropes.
