Where it came from
Lethe, a short film produced by Geidai Animation, emerged from the rigorous academic environment of the Tokyo University of the Arts. It was created as part of the institution's commitment to cultivating experimental storytelling and traditional craft in animation, reflecting the unique, introspective style often found in the studio's student-led projects.
The film is characterized by its evocative, minimalist aesthetic, focusing on themes of memory, transience, and the passage of time. The creators utilized deliberate pacing and atmospheric visual design to immerse the viewer in a dreamlike narrative, earning recognition within the independent animation circuit for its technical precision and poetic emotional weight.
