Set in a war-torn reimagining of 1914, Leviathan follows Alek, a fugitive prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and Deryn Sharp, a daring young girl disguised as a boy to serve in the British Air Service. When fate throws them together aboard the HMS Leviathan, a massive, living airship made from genetically engineered creatures, they embark on a world-changing adventure that will challenge everything they know about war, loyalty, and identity.

Where it came from
Leviathan is a 2025 original net animation produced by Studio Orange. It was developed to expand the studio's portfolio of high-end 3D-assisted animation, a field in which they have established a distinct visual language through prior works like Beastars and Trigun Stampede. The project was conceived as a high-concept sci-fi narrative, aiming to leverage the studio's expertise in blending digital character models with complex, atmospheric environments.
The design philosophy behind Leviathan emphasizes a cinematic approach to digital artistry, focusing on fluid motion and dramatic lighting to define the tone of the world-building. Studio Orange has consistently sought to push the boundaries of how CG anime can replicate the emotional resonance of traditional hand-drawn animation, and this title represents a continuation of their pursuit of stylistic maturity in the medium.
