Where it came from
Liella no Uta 2 was produced by Sunrise in 2022 as a series of musical segments integrated into the second season of the anime Love Live! Superstar!!. These segments were designed to showcase the evolving discography of the school idol group Liella!, following their expansion from a five-member unit to a nine-member ensemble. The project sought to deepen the narrative connection between the characters and their performances by presenting high-quality music videos that functioned as visual complements to the televised story arcs.
The visual direction and choreography for these segments were crafted to highlight the distinct personalities of the new recruits alongside the established members, utilizing a blend of traditional 2D animation and 3D computer-generated performance sequences characteristic of the Love Live! franchise. Upon its release, the collection was well-received by fans of the series for its technical polish and its role in effectively introducing the group's updated musical identity, serving as a pivotal bridge between the anime's plot and the franchise's broader multimedia offerings.
