Where it came from
Little Tiger and Bride, known in Japanese as 'Tora-chan to Hanayome,' was produced by Toei Animation's predecessor, Nihon Doga, in 1948. Emerging during the difficult post-war reconstruction period in Japan, the film was part of a broader effort to revitalize the domestic animation industry by adapting folk-inspired tales into accessible, family-oriented entertainment.
The production reflects the influence of early Japanese animation pioneers who sought to balance traditional artistic sensibilities with the burgeoning aesthetic techniques of the era. As a pre-Toei production, it serves as a historical artifact documenting the transition toward the professionalized studio system that would eventually define the company's identity in the mid-20th century.
