Lord of Lords Ryu Knight: Adeu's Legend II

Lord of Lords Ryu Knight: Adeu's Legend II is a two-episode original video animation released in 1995 as a direct sequel to the television series produced by Sunrise. The production expanded upon the fantasy world of Earthia, continuing the journey of the protagonist, Adeu, and his sentient mecha partner, Zephyr. It served as a continuation of the franchise's unique blend of traditional high-fantasy tropes and mecha combat, which had garnered a dedicated following during its initial broadcast run.

The project was helmed by the creative team at Sunrise, who sought to maintain the visual consistency and character-driven narrative established in the original series. The design of the Ryu mecha reflects the era’s trend of 'super-deformed' robotic aesthetics, characterized by knight-like armor and heroic proportions. Upon its release, the OVA was received as a nostalgic epilogue for existing fans, prioritizing the resolution of character arcs and deepening the lore of the Ryu Knight universe rather than introducing radical departures in mechanical design or tone.
