The ancient demon, Dongfang Qingcang, who has been suppressed for a thousand years, comes back to the three worlds and starts a war between immortals and demons the moment he is reborn. In order to get out, the demon lord swaps souls with the immortal Lanhua, who has difficulty controlling her magic power, and accidentally kills her immortal body. In desperation, the two embarked on a journey to find a new body. Along the way, the two experienced all sorts of things, fighting and joking, and Lanhua started to develop feelings for Dongfang Qingcang, but little does she know that all this time, Dongfang QingCang only used her as a tool to resurrect the ancient god of war Chidi, and under the calm a larger conspiracy is also quietly carried out

Where it came from
Love Between Fairy and Devil, produced by Stellar, is a prominent example of the high-fantasy xianxia genre that gained significant traction in the Chinese streaming market. Adapted from the novel by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, the production was crafted to modernize traditional mythological tropes through sophisticated visual effects and a polished aesthetic, aiming to revitalize the genre for a contemporary, globally-reaching audience.
The creative direction focused on a distinct visual language characterized by elaborate costume design and intricate world-building, which were central to the studio's strategy to distinguish the work from more grounded period dramas. Upon its release, the series received widespread acclaim for its production values and the chemistry of its leads, successfully bridging the gap between niche web-novel fandoms and mainstream television viewers.
