LOVE FLOPS

Love Flops, known in Japan as Renai Flops, is a 2022 original television anime series produced by the studio Passione and managed by Kadokawa. The project was conceived as a lighthearted romantic comedy that begins with a series of absurdist, slapstick encounters between the protagonist, Asahi Kashiwagi, and five female students who arrive at his school. This narrative structure served as a classic harem premise, designed to lean into the familiar tropes of the genre while setting the stage for more complex genre shifts later in the season.

The series is notable for its deliberate tonal transition. While initially marketed and structured as a standard school-life romance with character designs by Kazuyuki Ueda, the narrative evolves into a poignant science fiction story exploring themes of memory, consciousness, and artificial intelligence.
