Where it came from
Love Live! Superstar!! Season 3 premiered in October 2024 as part of the long-running multimedia franchise managed by Bandai Namco Filmworks. The series maintains the franchise's focus on the fictional Yuigaoka Girls' High School, chronicling the journey of the idol group Liella! as they welcome new members and navigate the competitive landscape of school idols. This specific broadcast cycle on NHK Educational TV represents a continued partnership between the network and the series to reach a broader, family-oriented audience during primetime educational slots.
The character designs for the series are credited to Atsushi Saito, who has overseen the visual transition of the Liella! members through their various seasons. Saito’s work aims to balance the established aesthetic of the Love Live! franchise with the evolving personalities of the new additions to the group. The production sought to emphasize high-fidelity animation and musical integration, adhering to the standard set by previous installments while responding to fan expectations for more complex choreography and narrative depth within the school idol genre.
