Where it came from
Madobe Nanami no Windows 7 de PC Jisaku Ouen Commercial!! was released in 2010 as a promotional original video animation aimed at the Japanese DIY PC enthusiast market. Produced by Rising Force, this short film served as a vibrant mascot-driven marketing campaign for the Windows 7 Ultimate DSP version in Japan, personifying the operating system through the character Nanami Madobe, voiced by Nana Mizuki.
The character design for Nanami Madobe was created by illustrator Wakaba Inoue, who utilized a distinct anime aesthetic to appeal to the Akihabara tech community. By frame-shifting the technical requirements of building a custom PC into an engaging, personality-led narrative, the project successfully bridged the gap between complex hardware configurations and mainstream otaku culture, becoming a notable example of corporate mascot branding in the early 2010s.
