Mai Mai Mai

Mai Mai Mai is the recording alias of Italian experimental musician Toni Cutrone, whose work often explores the intersection of Mediterranean folk traditions and harsh electronic soundscapes. The project emerged from a desire to deconstruct the myths and historical traumas of Southern Italy, frequently utilizing field recordings and rhythmic patterns that evoke the ancient practice of tarantismo.

The sonic architecture of his releases is defined by a dense, claustrophobic synthesis that maintains a deep sense of place. Critics have often noted that his design and compositions, while abrasive, serve as a form of ritualistic catharsis, effectively blurring the lines between modern industrial music and the primordial sounds of the Mediterranean basin.
