Marulk's Daily Life

Marulk's Daily Life is a series of four short-form animated specials released in 2020 as a companion to the second season of the Made in Abyss anime. Produced by Kinema Citrus, these episodes provide a lighter, slice-of-life look at the character Marulk, a young apprentice to Ozen the Immovable. They were crafted to expand the world-building of the Abyss by focusing on the mundane, domestic routines of a character otherwise defined by his proximity to the series' more intense conflicts.

The character design for Marulk, based on Akihito Tsukushi’s original manga, emphasizes a delicate, almost doll-like aesthetic that contrasts sharply with the harsh environment of the Orth facility. Kinema Citrus maintained the show's signature high-fidelity art style even for these brief vignettes, prioritizing a gentle, observational tone that serves as a breather from the main narrative's darker themes. The specials were well-received by fans for their character development and the opportunity to spend quiet time with a fan-favorite supporting cast member.
