Medaka Box

Medaka Box was adapted into a television anime series in 2012 by studio Gainax, based on the manga written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Akira Akatsuki. The source material, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, began as a relatively traditional school-life battle manga, but it gradually subverted genre tropes through Nisio Isin's signature meta-commentary and unconventional narrative shifts. The anime was produced under the direction of Shouji Saeki, who sought to capture the eccentric energy and rapid-fire dialogue that defined the original work.

The reception of the series was polarized, largely due to its unconventional tonal evolution.
