Meltys Quest

Meltys Quest, originally a role-playing game released in 2017, saw its animated adaptation released as an OVA in 2020 by the studio Bomb! Cute! Bomb!. The project emerged from the broader context of independent doujin games being adapted into adult-oriented animation, a niche market that often relies on the established popularity of the source material's character designs and narrative mechanics. The OVA was produced to satisfy demand from the game's dedicated fanbase, focusing on high-fidelity animation of the central character, Meltys, as she traverses a fantasy kingdom.

The character design remains faithful to the original game's aesthetic, which leans heavily into the moe art style prevalent in late 2010s Japanese indie games. The animation studio, Bomb! Cute! Bomb!, sought to prioritize fluid movement and expressive visual storytelling, attempting to translate the interactive experience of the game into a linear, cinematic format. Upon its release, the production was largely received within its specific niche as a faithful visual representation of the source content, praised for its commitment to the established visual identity of the Meltys Quest franchise.
