Where it came from
Mewkledreamy emerged in 2020 as a multimedia project centered on a magical girl anime series produced by the studio J.C.Staff. The series was designed to appeal to a younger demographic, blending traditional fantasy elements with the distinct aesthetic sensibilities associated with Sanrio characters. It follows a middle school girl who discovers a mysterious talking stuffed cat, establishing a narrative framework that emphasizes themes of friendship, dreams, and emotional growth.
The character design and visual direction for Mewkledreamy were intended to align with the soft, pastel-toned merchandise-driven style typical of its production partners. By integrating the show's narrative with a broader line of toys and accessories, J.C.Staff and the creative team aimed to create a cohesive brand experience. Upon its debut, the series was noted for its polished animation quality and its clear intent to bridge the gap between classic magical girl tropes and contemporary character-led marketing.
