Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou

Miss Caretaker of Sunohara-sou, known in Japan as Sunohara-sou no Kanrinin-san, was adapted from the four-panel manga series by Nekoume. The anime was produced by studio SILVER LINK. and aired in the summer of 2018. It follows the narrative of Aki Shiina, a young boy who moves to Tokyo to attend middle school and finds himself under the care of Ayaka Sunohara at a dormitory populated by older women.

The production sought to capture the lighthearted, comedy-driven tone of the original source material, emphasizing the contrasting dynamics between the youthful protagonist and the dormitory caretaker. In terms of design, the studio utilized a bright, character-focused aesthetic typical of the mid-2010s slice-of-life genre, prioritizing soft visual cues to match the gentle, often whimsical nature of the interactions between the residents of Sunohara-sou.
