Where it came from
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Final Plus: The Chosen Future was released in 2005 as an original video animation (OVA) serving as an extended, definitive conclusion to the television series Gundam Seed Destiny. Produced by Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, the project was created to address fan reception of the original broadcast finale, providing additional narrative closure and character resolution for the primary cast.
The animation features updated scenes and an expanded epilogue that clarifies the fates of key characters like Kira Yamato and Athrun Zala. It was designed to transition the series into the subsequent feature film projects that were being considered at the time. The release was well-received by the existing fanbase for its high production values and for offering a more cohesive emotional conclusion than the original television airing.
