Money Wars: Nerawareta Waterfront Keikaku

Money Wars: Nerawareta Waterfront Keikaku was released in 1991 as a promotional animation produced by GAINAX. Commissioned by the Japanese construction firm Obayashi Corporation, the short film served as a corporate showcase for the 'Tokyo Waterfront City' urban development project, which was a major focus of real estate speculation and economic ambition during the late Japanese bubble era.

The production is notable for featuring the early involvement of key GAINAX staff members who would later define the studio's aesthetic. While the narrative is essentially a piece of promotional media designed to illustrate the feasibility and grandeur of the proposed Tokyo Teleport Town, its visual style reflects the sharp, character-driven animation characteristic of the studio’s work in the early 1990s, often cited by animation historians as an intriguing footnote in the evolution of the team that would soon create Neon Genesis Evangelion.
