A young manga artist whose inspiration gradually runs out on the road to creation accidentally adopts two pets when he goes out to find inspiration. The cat is named Huanghuang, and the dog is named Bazahei. Although the two little guys often brought a lot of trouble to the teenager, they also gained two pieces of companionship and love at the same time. Although they are a cat and a dog, the teenager knows that they are family. And then, the noisy but warm and happy life of the teenager began.

Where it came from
My Cat Hates Me is an original net animation produced by the Chinese digital platform Bilibili, released to tap into the massive online popularity of pet-centric content. The series was designed to explore the humorous and often strained dynamic between house cats and their owners, utilizing a lighthearted animation style that emphasizes the unpredictable and aloof behavior typical of feline companions.
The production leans into the visual language of short-form internet comedy, focusing on relatable gags that transcend linguistic barriers. By leveraging Bilibili's internal animation resources, the studio aimed to create bite-sized, shareable segments that resonate with urban pet owners, receiving a warm reception from audiences who appreciate the subversion of the typical, idealized pet-owner relationship in favor of a more chaotic, comedic reality.
