Where it came from
My Heroic Husband is an animated ONA series produced by the Chinese digital platform Bilibili, based on the popular web novel of the same name by Fen Zhi. It debuted as part of Bilibili's push to adapt domestic web literature into high-quality 3D animation, aiming to capture the massive audience already familiar with the source material's blend of historical period drama and modern business tactics.
The series centers on a modern-day businessman who finds himself transported into the body of a merchant in the Wu Dynasty, where he must navigate complex family dynamics and economic warfare using his 21st-century knowledge. The production reflects the evolving aesthetic of Chinese 3D animation, prioritizing detailed character modeling and environmental world-building to distinguish the work within a highly competitive domestic market.
