Being seen as a full-fledged business woman isn’t easy for Futaba Igarashi when her senpai, Harumi, treats her like a kid. Days for her are never typical, at work or outside of it, with all the antics going on in her life. As mishaps ensue, she’ll find herself growing closer with her loudmouth senpai. Maybe Futaba feels more than she lets on, but one thing’s for sure: she’s still annoyed!

Where it came from
My Senpai is Annoying originated as a popular web manga series by the creator Shiro Manta, first appearing on the Pixiv platform in 2017. The story centers on the workplace dynamic between Futaba Igarashi, a short and energetic office worker, and Harumi Takeda, her tall, boisterous, and often unintentionally oblivious supervisor. The series gained significant traction for its gentle approach to the 'office comedy' genre, focusing on the slow-burning romantic tension and supportive professional relationship between the two leads rather than high-stakes drama.
The 2021 television anime adaptation was produced by Doga Kobo, a studio widely respected in the industry for their expertise in character-driven comedy and high-quality animation of daily life sequences. Under the direction of Ryota Itoh, the production aimed to retain the manga's warm, cozy aesthetic, utilizing vibrant color palettes and expressive character designs to emphasize the comfort of the office setting. Upon its release, the series was well-received by audiences for its wholesome tone and the charming, relatable performances of the voice cast, becoming a standout title within the slice-of-life genre.
