On rainy days, Hina has dreams about her younger self playing with a mysterious boy in a garden she's never seen before—until, by chance, she stumbles upon the place. There's a young man there, Takaaki, who mistakes Hina for his fiancée Hinako. He whisks her back to what he thinks is her home, where Hina's doppelganger is waiting, and Hina realizes this isn't the Tokyo she left behind but Japan in the year 1907! Is this all a dream or something much stranger?

Where it came from
Namida Ame to Serenade, or Tear Rain and Serenade, is a television drama series adapted from the manga by Rei Toma. Set against the backdrop of the Taisho era, the story explores a complex, time-traveling romance that blends historical atmosphere with supernatural elements. It was produced to translate Toma's evocative visual style and emotional narrative into a live-action format, appealing to audiences who favor period dramas infused with elements of fantasy.
The series focuses on capturing the aesthetic sensibilities of the early 20th century, utilizing costumes and set design intended to immerse viewers in a nostalgic, melancholic Japan. The production was developed by a team focused on retaining the original manga's character-driven tension, emphasizing the delicate interplay between the characters and the consequences of their temporal interventions. It was received as a faithful adaptation that resonated with fans of the source material's romantic themes.
