Natsuki is the top female karateka in her high school. Beautiful and cheerful, she charms most people she meets. Most of the young men in her class would dearly like to be the object of her affection but she saves her passion for karate. Unfortunately, all the big ugly thugs she comes across want to fight her so she's always finding practical application for her karate skills. As the series continues and her opponents get grimmer, Natsuki learns techniques from Akido and Judo and develops a special Ki energy blast that doubles the strength of her punches. She may not be able to smash walls like some of her opponents but her special N.G. Bomber usually sends her opponents flying.

Where it came from
Natsuki Crisis is a two-episode original video animation (OVA) series produced by the renowned studio Madhouse and released in 1994. Adapted from the manga series by Hirohisa Tagami, the project emerged during a high point for the mid-nineties OVA market, which frequently explored genre-blending narratives featuring martial arts and high-school drama. The production sought to capitalize on the success of the source material by translating its kinetic, high-octane fighting sequences into animation, maintaining the distinct aesthetic of the era's character designs.
The animation direction and character styling for the OVA aimed to capture the gritty, energetic essence of Tagami’s illustrations while navigating the technical limitations and stylistic sensibilities of the time. Upon its release, it was received as a competent example of the action-oriented OVA format, valued by enthusiasts of 1990s character-driven anime. Its legacy is tied to the broader output of Madhouse during the decade, serving as a functional, atmospheric piece of late-century cult animation.
