Where it came from
Nijiiro☆Prism Girl is a single-episode original video animation released in 2013, adapted from the shojo manga series created by Nakano Emiko. Produced by the studio Brain's Base and released as an accompaniment to a special edition of Sho-Comi magazine, the project served as a promotional showcase for the manga's aesthetic, capturing the quintessential high-energy atmosphere of early 2010s shojo storytelling.
The narrative follows the struggles of a young girl attempting to navigate the competitive world of modeling while balancing her personal aspirations. The design and direction aimed to translate Emiko's distinctively sparkling art style into a fluid, expressive format, focusing on the dramatic emotional beats typical of the genre. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a niche collector's item for fans of the source material rather than a stand-alone media landmark.
