Where it came from
The Nisekoi: OVA was released in 2016 as a companion to the final volume of the original manga series by Naoshi Komi. Produced by Studio Shaft, these episodes were designed to adapt chapters that were omitted from the main television series, providing fans with a conclusion to specific character arcs and side stories that rounded out the romantic comedy narrative.
The production retained the distinct visual style of director Akiyuki Shinbo, known for his signature use of surreal framing, stark color palettes, and unconventional animation transitions. While the series garnered a dedicated following for its dynamic visual flair, the OVA was received as a nostalgic epilogue that focused on fan-favorite interactions, solidifying the series' reputation for high-contrast, stylized storytelling within the harem genre.
