ONE PIECE: Mezase! Kaizoku Yakyuu Ou

Released in 2004, Mezase! Kaizoku Yakyuu Ou, or Aim for the Pirate Baseball King, is a lighthearted sports-themed short produced by Toei Animation as part of the broader expansion of the One Piece franchise. Following the massive success of the television series and feature films, Toei frequently released these special shorts to capitalize on the characters' popularity, often placing the Straw Hat Pirates in unconventional, non-canon settings like baseball games to engage fans during seasonal transitions.

The animation reflects the aesthetic of the early 2000s One Piece era, maintaining the distinct character designs established by Eiichiro Oda while adapting them to the rules of a baseball match. Produced primarily for airing alongside other Toei theatrical releases, the short is viewed by collectors as a whimsical curiosity, representing the studio's efforts to broaden the franchise's appeal through creative, short-form storytelling that prioritizes humor and character interaction over the series' overarching plot.
