Otome＊Domain THE ANIMATION

Otome＊Domain THE ANIMATION was produced by the studio Pink Pineapple and released in 2017 as a two-episode original video animation series. It serves as an adult-oriented adaptation of the visual novel created by the developer Palette, which gained notoriety in the mid-2010s for its focus on the 'otokonoko' trope—a Japanese term referring to male characters who present as female. The animation project was developed to capitalize on the visual novel's specific sub-genre popularity, condensing the narrative to highlight the central romantic and comedic interactions between the protagonist and the cross-dressing characters.

The character designs for the animation were handled by the production team at Pink Pineapple, aiming to replicate the aesthetic style established by the original game's artists, Tsubasu Izumi and Fuzz. The visual direction focused on maintaining the high-contrast, stylized look typical of mid-2010s adult animation. Upon release, the series was received primarily within the niche market of visual novel enthusiasts and fans of the specific aesthetic tropes it features, remaining a representative example of Pink Pineapple's output during that period of their catalog.
